Kingly rewards and rebuilding, yet again

// December 29th, 2003 // No Comments » // Uncategorized

Today I fianlly saw Return of the King and I must say that it was the most satisfying of the three films. Mr. Lucas should be worried.

In other news, the Bears fired Dick Jauron. Unfortunately, it seems that John “Throw-it-short-on-3rd-and-long” Shoop remains with the team, at least for the time-being. We in Chicago are again forced to wait ’til next year as the Super Bowl goes on without us. Hopefully the new coach will quit playing the quarterback shuffle and stick with one for the next season. My bets are on Rex Grossman.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a wonderful new year!

It seems like you spend so much time getting ready for the holidays that you can’t really sit back and appreciate them once they’ve arrived. With 2004 is right around the corner, I’ve been reflecting on the year gone by and looking forward to the year ahead. I’m looking forward to meeting new friends, exploring new opportunities, enjoying myself and spending quality time with those I care about.

The last ride

It seems just like yesterday that I was dusting the cobwebs off of my bike for the spring and riding in my first Critical Mass. It’s hard to believe that tomorrow’s ride is the last one for the year. Where does the time go? Hopefully, the weather will hold out and I can get in one more ride before the year is out.

They say it’s your birthday. Well, it’s my birthday too

I’m feelin’ thankful for the small things today.

Happy…

Happy birthday to me….

Happy birthday to me….

and to you.

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted, as was so delicately pointed out to me recently (u know who u are! :) ). Anyway, I’ve been busy with many things in my life. The past two weekends I’ve gone to different plays. Two weekends ago, I took Jen to see the play Over the River and Through the Woods. It was my second time seeing it and her first. Even the second time around, it was great.

Last weekend, a group of us saw an adaptation of the Steven King book Misery performed by Jen’s old speech teacher, Kate Harris. Kate is also the Artistic Director for the company putting on the show. The theatre hosting the show was small, and a bit nippy but served as the perfect environment for King’s tale. Harris was quite convincing as Annie, to the point where she may have scared some of the audience members; myself included. :)

Also, I’ve just finished reading The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. I found the book to be quite page turner. It’s a bit Indiana Jones and a bit like a Michael Crichton, but without all the technology. I’ve read articles about how controversial the topic of the book is. While it may raise an eyebrow to a the most devout Catholic, I found it to be thought-provoking and even something that may spur further research on my part. Not to say I’m going on a Grail quest, but it would be interesting to gather more knowledge about the subject matter.

Chicago Idol

Saturday night, the crew (Charles, Moni, Amy and I) ventured to the Pontiac Cafe in Wicker Park to enjoy dulcet sounds of the Hootnanners and their ever-rotating group of lead singers — otherwise known as audience members — perform live-band karaoke.

Monika performed “Kool Thing” by Sonic Youth while I performed the rollicking “Sweet Caroline” (Good times never seemed so good…) by the one and only Neil Diamond. A splendid time was had by all.
