Rained out

// July 4th, 2004 // No Comments » // Uncategorized

Yesterday was the PERFECT day for Fourth of July weekend festivities. After spending the afternoon with my friends at a cookout and getting to see friends I haven’t seen in a long time, I left to enjoy an evening’s festivities at Lisle’s Eyes to the Skies festival with my family. On the bill, The Association and Davy Jones.

Since it had been raining all afternoon (just ask those poor souls at Wrigley) we were hesitant to go. However, at the time we left, it was barely drizzling and looked as if it was clearing up to the west. No sooner did we get to the park, then the rain started up again. We gave up our tickets and headed to the stage area, as the rain got heavier.

Off in the distance, we saw the seating area. It was up on a hill and uncovered. Yet there were still a number of die-hards in rain ponchos and umbrellas willing to weather it out (pun intended). Needless to say, we weren’t as willing.

On the way home, we stopped at a nearby Wal-mart to pick up some dry shirts and to get out of the rain. By the time we walked out of the building (about a 1/2 hr later), the rain had stopped. We cut our losses and headed home.

Rare Earth in the Park

Wedenesday nights in Bensenville, IL are special nights during the summer. It’s during that time that the city hosts concerts in the downtown square with an accompanying classic car show. This week’s guest was 70′s rockers Rare Earth.

I took the opportunity to catch up on my photography and posted some new pics in my photo blog. Enjoy!

That’s $5 I’ll be glad to lose

Prior to the start of this weekend’s Sox-Cubs series I bet my friend Scott that the Sox would take the series against the Cubs. Though I am a die-hard Cubs fan, I thought the Sox seemed to have the momentum going and would carry that forward into the series. They almost came back yesterday but are now getting shut out through 2 innings by Maddux. If Maddux can pull this out, it’ll make him one step closer to career win number 300.
