Clash of the Titans

// October 31st, 2004 // No Comments » // Uncategorized

So continues the battle of the former football greats on the sodded surface of the mothership. Frankly, the score should still be 16-13 as you could clearly see that on the replay that the interceptor was clearly down at least once, if not twice. Apparently that either the replay judge needs Harry Carry glasses or the Bears have a horseshoe up thier ass. Looks like Lovie will get his second win with about 2 1/2 mins left. Superbowl, here we come!

A change of plans

Contrary to my previous posting, I will not be going to the pub tonight. While I feel somewhat guilty about my decision, I think the benefits will outweigh the consequences.

The reason why I will not going is that Meg’s friend bailed on her for her Milwaukee trip this weekend. So, rather than travel up there alone, she’s invited me to go. I’m feeling a bit of trepidation about our first weekend together. But once I think we get over the initial awkwardness, it’s going to be a good time.

In fact, she’s already wanted to do the couples costume thing. She’s going as a Catholic school girl and I am still going as a Royal Guard. Though, I’m bringing a costume change so we can actually be a couple. :) I can’t wait!

Mass up!

It’s time for the phantasmic cyclists of the City to once again rendezvous at Daley Plaza for the annual Haloween Critical Mass. Hopefully 1) I can actually get out of here on time to attend — which is always a pain to do come release-to-manufacturing day and 2) the rain holds out.

Monika seems to have rounded up a large crew of our regulars to attend (some of whom I haven’t seen for quite awile). If it happens, I’m going to throw someting together quickly as I really can’t see me wearing the Emperor’s Royal Guard outfit I’m going to use at Maple Ave Pub tomorrow. Even though the helmet is pretty thick and durable, it isn’t really good with either the peripheral vision thing or allowing one to turn their head, for that matter. Not a good combination when riding a bike in city traffic. :)

So instead, I’m thinking a Red Sox Nation costume. Got the hat, got the jersey, now I all need is the red and white face paint.

I’ll post some pics after the fact. It’s going to be a boooootiful night…

FINALLY, THE RED SOX ARE WORLD CHAMPIONS!

Congratulations to the ‘idiots’ from Boston for the most entertaining World Series and post-season for as long as I can remember. Boston is dancing in streets proving once and for all that there is, never was, and never will ba a curse. Are you listening Chicago?

Maybe someone can remind the prima-donnas on both sides of town.. ahem Sammy… ahem Frank.. so that at least ONE of them can get to the series next year. Oh and for you Yankee and Cardinal fans, I’m sorry that both of your teams had to win so many games in the regular and post-season only to be knocked out by a bunch of idiots. The Kleenex is on the table over there…

In other news…

Go Sox! I guess Curt Schilling had it right. When u have a guy on your team who looks like Jesus, how could you not root for them?

See, the Red Sox actually do something the Cubs don’t: They actually play to win and put balls in play between the basepaths. Something Mr. Base-a-ball-been-berry-berry-good-to-me doesn’t understand. See guys, to produce runs, you can actually hit balls down the line and can actually get guys home with 0, 1, or two outs. Have u been watching Dusty? Heck, he’s probably in the first row — just like last year — twirling his toothpick and smiling.

In other news, all of Chicago found out that ATA is moving out of Midway after filing for bankruptcy today. Most of the gates at Midway will be taken over by rival Airtran. As to how this affects Dan: as of tonight, he still has a job and no one was let go from his dept. How long that will last, who knows. Guess he and mom better get to NY or Minneapolis while the gettins’ still good.

Finally, I want to say that I am anxious beyond belief regarding Meg. She and I seem to connect on so many different levels that not being together seems inconceivable. Well, hopefully once this whole Halloween madness is over we can actually synchronize our schedules (…no I don’t work on the 5th but I have Tai-Chi until 8:30 :) ) to a point where we can actually spend some quality time together. Hey, patience is a virtue, right?

Grrr.. argh…
